Barbie
Editorial Photography and Photoshop Retouching
This editorial photography project explores the theme of young women growing up in a hypersexualized society — one that pushes them to mature too quickly and become victims of fashion, advertising, and social expectations.
The concept behind Barbie is a visual commentary on lost innocence. Childhood fades early, and the playful, imaginative world of toys disappears before self-identity has a chance to form. The image captures this fragile transition, juxtaposing the glamour and perfection associated with the Barbie icon against the emotional and societal pressures imposed on young women.
Through lighting, pose, and subtle retouching, the work creates tension between beauty and critique — inviting the viewer to question how cultural ideals shape, distort, and ultimately confine femininity.
